Under the Stars & Stripes Camp Out is fun for the whole family

Bring the entire family for a unique overnight camping experience at Naper Settlement from 5 p.m. Friday, June 14 to 10 a.m. Saturday, June 15. Families can pitch a tent on the grounds of Naper Settlement, enjoy a catered dinner, join in games and geocaching, and then rally around the flag to commemorate Flag Day. Head out on a twilight tour of the grounds and end the evening with roasting marshmallows and singing songs around the campfire before turning in for the night.

Director of Learning Experiences Nancy Smith said, “This camp out is Naper Settlement’s version of a night at the museum and offers a totally unique opportunity to experience our 12-acre museum campus in a very different way, including a twilight tour of the grounds and a morning tour of several buildings before the grounds are open to the public. It’s a great way for families to kick-off the summer or to celebrate Father’s Day weekend.”

On Saturday morning, enjoy a continental breakfast and special tours of select historic buildings before the museum opens to the public including the Martin Mitchell Mansion, the Blacksmith Shop, Log House and “Brushstrokes of the Past … Naperville’s Story” exhibit. Please note that individual campsite fires or cooking are not permitted. Reservations are required by 5 p.m. Wednesday, June 12. Fee is $25/person, $10/ages 4 and under. Call (630) 420-6010 or visit www.napersettlement.com.
