Culver's of Downers Grove Helps Support Families Still Reeling From April Flooding

It’s hard to believe that torrential rains the Chicago area experienced this past April still have some families in the western suburbs feeling the effects. The community of Lisle is just one community where residents are even now trying to put their lives back together after being displaced by the near-record flooding.

In response, Lisle Junior High teacher Jason Wiertel and Student Council President Sydney Narot pulled together a fundraising effort entitled LISLESTRONG and on Sunday, May 19, more than 600 participants raised money by walking in a 3K race at the Lisle Community Park, where Culver’s of Downers Grove proudly dished out complimentary custard at the finish line.

Following the walk, Culver’s helped tip the fundraising efforts of LISLESTRONG over the $10,000 mark by donating 20% of all its sales that evening. Owner Bob Esposito reports the $700 Culver’s donation will help with repairs to benefit the impacted families in Lisle.

“Culver’s is a family restaurant and our entire culture revolves around community,” said Esposito. “We were proud to step in and help the Lisle families in need, and we know they would have done the same for us.”
