Register now for Antioch run on Fourth of July

Registration for the 19th annual Antioch Run for Freedom, hosted by State Bank of the Lakes, is open for runners and walkers who wish to participate.

The 5K run/walk begins at 8 a.m. Thursday, July 4, through the streets of Antioch. Online registration and printable registration forms can be accessed at www.sbotl.com. Walk-in registration is accepted at any of the five State Bank of the Lakes locations in Antioch, Lindenhurst, Lake Villa, Grayslake and Spring Grove.

Race day registration also will be available from 6:30 to 7:45 a.m. July 4 for an additional fee. Race packets can be picked up beginning June 10 at the Antioch location, 440 Lake St., or on race day morning.

More than 1,400 runners and walkers participated in the USATF certified and sanctioned event last year.

The Antioch Run for Freedom begins at the Antioch Scout House, 770 Cunningham Drive, in Antioch. This year’s highlights include free A4 Cooling Performance crew shirts for the first 1,200 registered participants, medals for the top three registered runners in each running category, Chrono Track bib tag timing, complimentary refreshments, and raffle prizes.

In keeping with its patriotic theme, runners, walkers and supporters of the Antioch Run for Freedom are asked donate items for Adopt-A-Package, a VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 4551-sponsored program that sends care packages to troops serving overseas. A drop-off site will be located at the event.
