Mt. Prospect announces fire department promotions

Mount Prospect Fire Chief John Malcolm announced this week that Henry Dawson will be sworn in as deputy fire chief and Brian Lambel as battalion chief at the Tuesday, May 21, village board meeting.

Dawson will fill the void created when former Deputy Chief Chris Truty resigned earlier this month to take a fire chief’s position in Colorado. Lambel will be promoted to fill Dawson’s current battalion chief position.

Dawson has been a member of the Mount Prospect Fire Department since 1985 — serving four years as a firefighter/paramedic, six years as a lieutenant, and 18 years as battalion chief. Currently, Dawson serves as the Hazardous Materials Team Leader Division 1 East and the liaison for the Mutual Aid Box Alarm System Division 1 Fire Chiefs.

Lambel has been a member of the Mount Prospect Fire Department since 2000 — serving 10 years as a firefighter/paramedic and three years as a lieutenant. Prior to this, Lambel served 10 years as a firefighter/paramedic with the Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Fire Protection District. He is the team leader of the Mount Prospect Technical Rescue Team and a rescue squad officer for the Illinois Urban Search and Rescue Team.

“Deputy Chief Dawson’s experience and knowledge of fire department operations will provide for an easy transition, and I look forward to working with him in his new role,” Malcolm said. “Battalion Chief Lambel will fill the vacant position created by Deputy Chief Dawson and will do an excellent job as well. We are very fortunate to have tremendous talent in the department to make this transition a smooth one.”
