Culver's, Pet Supplies Plus to host 'Pets-a-Palooza' June 15

For the third year in a row, Bolingbrook's Culver's Restaurant and Pet Supplies Plus will co-host the “Pets-a-Palooza Pet Adoption Fundraising Festival” on Saturday, June 15.

Organizers hope to raise money for more than a dozen local humane societies and rescue agencies that rely solely on donations to feed, shelter, care and place thousands of animals each year in their combined operations.

The event takes place from noon-6 p.m. at Culver's and Pets Supplies Plus' neighboring locations at 250 and 270 N. Bolingbrook Drive, respectively. Its main sponsors are Bill Jacobs Subaru of Joliet, and SPAY ILLINOIS, a non-profit whose mission is to help end the suffering and euthanasia of companion animals by providing subsidized spay/neuter and wellness programs. They'll provide free pet micro chipping at the event and Culver's and Pet Supplies Plus will be donating 10% of their sales for the day.

Other major sponsors include Merrick, Iams, Eukanuba, Evo, Innova, California Natural, Halo Natural Balance, the Village of Bolingbrook, Bolingbrook Police Department and Bolingbrook Chamber of Commerce.

Free and open to the public, event highlights will include a Bolingbrook Police K-9 unit demonstration, a live reptile show called “Cold Blooded Creatures, and a dog agility show from “The Fly Dogs.”

Magicians, face painters and balloon artists will entertain the children, while vendors will provide samples of pet food, products and treats.

“Pets help fulfill our lives by providing us with companionship and unconditional love,” says Jim DiVerde, owner of Culver's Restaurant. “Given that one-in-four American households owns a pet, we're hoping to raise money so these local humane and rescue agencies can continue their vital missions.”

To raise the funds needed to keep these agencies operating, a raffle will be held for such items as an iPad, iPad Mini, Xbox360, Kindle, flat screen television and much more.
