Mike's Red Monster Groundbreaking

Last Sunday, April 28, MBSA had a groundbreaking ceremony at Community Park in Mundelein. MBSA will be erecting a "Red Monster" home run fence on one of the fields at the complex at Community Park in memory of Mike Jones, former league president, who passed away suddenly last October. Thanks to a huge outpouring of support from many people we have raised over $40,000 in Mike's memory for improvements at the fields. One of these improvements is the Red Monster.

In attendance at the groundbreaking was Mike's family; wife Yvonne, daughter Lauren and son Ryan along with Yvonne's sister Georgianna. Also part of the ceremony was newly elected Mayor Steve Lentz, Mundelein Park District Director Margaret Resnick, MBSA President Kevin McKay, former MBSA president Jim Eller along with many friends, former little leaguers, coaches, and neighbors. It was a great day!

Construction of the new fence is set to begin next week, so we are very excited to have "Mike's Red Monster" going up.
