Seyller posts bond after judge lowers bail
Bail was reduced Thursday for an East Dundee police sergeant facing a misdemeanor battery charge and a felony weapons charge.
Kane County Judge John Barsanti reduced Sgt. Michael Seyller's bail from $100,000 to $25,000. He also ordered Seyller to wear an alcohol monitor, and to avoid contacting the woman he is accused of battering.
Seyller, 39, of Carpentersville, is on paid administrative leave from the police department. He posted bond and was released later in the day.
He was accused of hitting a woman he knows, at 12:53 a.m. April 24 on the 6500 block of Pine Hollow Drive in Carpentersville. The woman told Carpentersville police Seyller slapped her in the head and face during an argument. She sustained a bloody nose and a bump on her head.
Seyller was arrested at the woman's home in Algonquin.
In the weapons case, Seyller is accused of carrying a loaded shotgun, while intoxicated, on a Carpentersville sidewalk April 6, according to police.
At that time, he was already on paid leave, pending the outcome of an investigation into unspecified off-duty contact. Seyller joined the department in 1999.
On April 23, Adams County, Wis., officials charged Seyller with felony substantial battery, related to a March 1 bar fight in which he broke another man's nose and knocked out two front teeth, according to the Adams County District Attorney's Office.
