ComEd, Exelon Volunteers Celebrate Earth Day at Morton Arboretum

Employee volunteers from ComEd and its parent company Exelon celebrated Earth Day with an environmental service project at the Morton Arboretum. The volunteers pulled garlic mustard in the Arboretum's East Woods, provided garden maintenance, and planted native trees and shrubs in natural areas. Additionally, the volunteers assisted with cleanup efforts as a result of last week's flood.

The Earth Day volunteer project was a part of National Volunteer Week, which takes place April 21-27. National Volunteer Week is an annual nationwide celebration of people working to improve their communities through service. For the seventh consecutive year, employees from ComEd and Exelon have organized community service projects in which approximately 2,000 employees, family members and friends are expected to provide volunteer service.

Many of the National Volunteer Week projects are focused on environmental cleanup or conservation and support Exelon 2020, the company's program to eliminate the equivalent of its annual carbon footprint by 2020.
