Slash to perform at Ribfest
Slash, the former lead guitarist of Guns N' Roses, will round out the musical lineup for Naperville's Ribfest.
Ribfest organizers announced Wednesday that Slash is slated to perform on July 5 during the third day of the five-day festival.
“Each and every year we work hard to bring the best entertainment,” Marty Walker, Ribfest 2013 chairman, said in a statement, “and this year is no exception.”
Slash was 22 years old when Guns N' Roses blazed onto the rock scene in 1987 with the band's debut record “Appetite for Destruction.” Since leaving the group, Slash has had success with various solo projects, including Slash's Snakepit and the group Velvet Revolver. His latest album is “Apocalyptic Love.”
Ribfest is July 3-7 in Naperville's Knoch Park.
In addition to Slash, there are four other headliners: Styx on July 3, Casey James and Love and Theft on July 4, Rick Springfield on July 6, and Lynyrd Skynyrd on July 7.
General Admission tickets will be available for sale online beginning Saturday, April 20. Tickets will be date specific and can be purchased at ribfest.net.
