Fiery Love Story to Take Harper College Stage

As a second-generation Italian American, Harper College Theatre Professor Laura Pulio Colbert knows there's more to the College's spring play than a funny, fiery love story. The show, “Italian American Reconciliation,” is as much a celebration of love and laughter, she says, as it is a lesson in appreciating cultural differences. “Diversity is more than a politically correct policy,” says Pulio Colbert, who is directing the upcoming performances. “It is to be celebrated, and our respective heritages shared, embraced and preserved.” The play, about a man attempting to woo back his ex-wife, will be staged at 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 24 through Saturday, April 27 and at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 28 in the Drama Lab Theatre, Room L109, Building L on Harper's main campus, 1200 W. Algonquin Road in Palatine. Tickets are $15 for general admission. Pulio Colbert calls it a “playful romp” of a fairy tale, and notes its smaller scope and focus on relationships makes it an ideal fit for the College's smaller, more intimate Drama Lab.
