No Hossa or Sharp Sunday in Detroit

The Blackhawks won’t have Marian Hossa and Patrick Sharp again on Sunday when they play the Red Wings at Joe Louis Arena.

Both players are recovering from shoulder injuries and stayed back in Chicago.

Hossa was placed on injured reserve, retroactive to the time of his injury. He could play Monday against Nashville at the United Center since all that is required of being on injured reserve is a seven-day stay.

Jeremy Morin was recalled from Rockford to take Hossa’s roster spot.

Meanwhile, Red Wings coach Mike Babcock told reporters that injured veteran forwards Johan Franzen (lower body) and Mikael Samuelsson (finger fracture) were authorized to play.

“Samuelsson and Franzen are cleared to go,” Babcock said. “So we’ll decide (Sunday) morning when we get in here on a lineup and all of that. I don’t even know where we are roster-wise and all of those things right there, so we have to get all of that worked out.”

The Red Wings did clear some room on their roster by trading veteran depth defenseman Kent Huskins to Philadelphia for a conditional seventh-round pick in 2014.

Kid is all right:Detroit general manager Ken Holland will need to clear one more roster spot for defenseman Dan DeKeyser on Sunday, when his contract #151; which was officially turned into the NHL on Saturday #151; is expected to be approved. The Red Wings will need to send somebody down to Grand Rapids of the American Hockey League to make room for DeKeyser.DeKeyser is a top NCAA prospect from Western Michigan University who signed an entry-level contract with the team on Friday, choosing the Red Wings over several others including Edmonton, Toronto, Philadelphia and Tampa Bay.The 23-year-old Michigan native grew up a Red Wings fan idolizing Nicklas Lidstrom.
