Wauconda discusses video gambling licenses

Wauconda trustees have informally agreed that an annual license should be sold for every video gambling device operating in the village. Mayor Mark Knigge said the license would cost $25 for each machine where video gaming is allowed under state law. Knigge said the $25 fee isn’t viewed as a moneymaker for the village. “What we’re really trying to do is keep track of the machines, who has what,” he said Wednesday. Trustees gave their support to the license during a committee meeting Tuesday. A formal village board vote on the proposal is expected April 2. Bonner Road Inn and American Legion Post 911 are the establishments with video gambling in the village.
