Mascot for Cubs would be just fine

News of the Cubs mulling the introduction of a mascot got me thinking.

First of all, they're the only team in town without a mascot, right?

Secondly, when's the last time you actually heard any fan mention any mascot from any team at any time?

For the most part they're just white noise, present but not noticed.

So in summation, a mascot at Wrigley is fine.

And if it has to be a cute little Cub, at least give it the tude' of “Ted.”

Now that would be awesome.

Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain:While Phil Emery will get most of the credit #8212; and rightly so #8212; for his big free-agent signings this week, you know some of the kudos have to go to cap master Cliff Stein, who no doubt played a major role as well.So, kudos Cliff. Just asking: Why don't we know more about Stein, or the other behind-the-scenes power brokers around town for that matter? Each team seems to have one.
