Kirk Players sponsor reading reward program

In cooperation with Mundelein High School, Director of Adult Education, Joan O. Hornby, the Kirk Players are sponsoring a Reading Reward Program. The Adult Education Program is currently running 9 classes of English as a Second Language classes throughout our community.

Classes are held at Mundelein High School, Fremont Public Library, and West Oak Middle School and at locations in Vernon Hills, Libertyville, Lake Zurich, Buffalo Grove and Zion. Teachers are using the classic American story by Mark Twain, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer.

The Kirk Players are encouraging the reading of this story by providing each instructor with a set of bookmarks that will provide a family pass for admission to the spring children's production of Tom Sawyer adapted by Tim Kelly.

This production featuring a cast of forty will be on stage April 12 and 13 at 7:00pm and April 13 and 14 at 2:00pm in the auditorium at Mundelein High School.

Kirk Players are proud to support the dedicated staff of our Adult Education program and thrilled to provide access to live theater as a reward.

The program is also being embraced by our ELL coordinators in Mundelein School Districts #75 and #79. Bookmarks that will admit two to any performance of Tom Sawyer will be awarded to students to encourage reading and to also encourage their participation in theatre.

Bookmarks have been provided by K&M Printing (www.kmprinting.com). For more information on the Reading Reward program and the Kirk Players visit our website at www.kirkplayers.org.
