West Aurora High gets a new principal

The West Aurora school board Monday hired a new principal for West Aurora High School.

Charles G. Hiscock, 48, will assume duties there July 1.

Hiscock is an associate principal at Downers Grove North High School, a post he has held since 2005.

He is pursuing a doctorate in educational administration at Northern Illinois University

Hiscock will replace interim co-principals Ross Truemper and Rudy Keller. They served since summer 2011, when former principal Dan Bridges left to become superintendent of Naperville District 203.

At Downers Grove North, Hiscock oversaw building operations; budget development and administration; site improvements including renovating its stadium and playing fields; and staff;

Before that, he worked as a dean of students, an art teacher and a coach. He served in the military police in the Army, and has worked as an illustrator.

He has master's degrees in educational administration and fine arts — painting, a bachelor's degree in art education, and an associate degree from the American Academy of Fine Art.

Hiscock is also an IHSA-certified wrestling official.
