Upcoming Library Programs Feature History, Ceramics and the Environment

Three entertaining programs and a ceramics class are coming soon to the Schaumburg Township District Library, 130 S. Roselle Rd. Register for these programs in person or by calling (847) 923-3347.

“Ladies of Liberty” will be held from 7:30-9 p.m., Monday, March 4 in the Rasmussen South Room. Based on Cokie Roberts' Book, Ladies of Liberty, this program will highlight inspiring stories of women like Abigail Adams, Dolley Madison and Louisa Adams. Dramatist and book reviewer Jenny Riddle's in-character portrayal brings the lives of these women into sharp focus as our nation celebrates Women's History month.

“Reduce, Reuse and Repurpose” is scheduled from 7-9 p.m., Tuesday, March 5 in the Rasmussen North Room. Sarah's Grove Quilters Circle invites people to join Debbie Martinez, international quilt teacher, fabric artist and jewelry designer, as she shares innovative ideas for repurposing found objects. The accompanying trunk show will display quilts made from clothing and found items, along with jewelry made from silverware and bottles. Registration required.

“EGGceptionally Bright Ceramics” will take place from 7-9:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 6 in the Rasmussen South Room. Adults are invited to paint a whole rainbow of color onto a ceramic piece that can be used to decorate a home or give as a gift. Instructor Randy Skepnek will provide guidance. A $15 fee will be required upon registration. Another class, “Bunny Trio Ceramics,” will be held from 10:30-1 p.m., Saturday, March 16 at the Hanover Park Branch Library, 1266 Irving Park Rd. Participants will paint a trio of bunnies that spell “HOP” to welcome the coming spring. A $15 fee will be required upon registration.

“Daisy's Girls: Camping with Juliette Gordon Low,” will be held from 2:30-4 p.m., Saturday, March 9 in the Rasmussen South Room. In 1912, Juliette Gordon Low led the formation of the Girl Scouts of the USA. Portrayer Betsey Means will take on Juliette Gordon Low's persona around an imaginary campfire as she treats the audience to a candid look at this amazingly energized woman and her devotion to generations of girls.
