Hypocrisy abounds in gun debate

The hypocrisy about gun control astounds me. The Department of Homeland Security orders 7,000 fully automatic AR-15s for their people and suggests that we use scissors to defend ourselves. Jesse Jackson calls gun supporters terrorists, while he has bodyguards to protect him. Hollywood celebrities made millions of dollars acting in violent movies, but now advocate gun control.

Years ago, Rosie O’Donnell berated Tom Selleck for having guns until he reminded her that she had an armed bodyguard protecting her children. Chicago Mayors Richard M. Daley and Rahm Emanuel do not want any guns in Chicago, but they and the aldermen are fully protected.

The toughest gun laws in the country did not prevent over 500 murders in Chicago last year. Al Sharpton said after gun control, then there is knife control. When does the government get to regulate controls for cars or baseball bats that are involved in deaths?

Sen. Dianne Feinstein has stated that her goal is to confiscate every firearm in America, while she has had a permit to carry a gun. If her proposed legislation becomes law, the Weekly Standard confirms that government officials and others will be exempt.

What about the rest of us? Obama signed into law that he and Bush and their wives will be protected for the rest of their lives by armed personnel at the taxpayers’ expense. We Americans should be able to protect ourselves, our homes and our families.
