Schaumburg hires electric aggregation consultant

Schaumburg trustees have approved a contract with Independent Energy Consultants to serve as the village’s consultant as it begins the process of aggregating electrical services for residents and businesses.

The village also is in the process of scheduling public hearings on its plan of operations and governance before alternative electric suppliers are considered.

Voters approved a referendum Nov. 6 allowing officials to start the process to consider alternative suppliers to ComEd, a move that has led to significant energy cost savings in neighboring communities. ComEd will remain in charge of distribution, no matter which supplier the village chooses.
