Schaumburg Campus Health Fair

Roosevelt University and Harper College are partnering to offer a wide array of information and health services from noon to 3 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 22 at the University's Schaumburg Campus, 1400 N. Roosevelt Blvd., Schaumburg.

Lectures on diabetes and asthma will be given by students in Roosevelt's College of Pharmacy for area residents who are 55 and older and are members of Roosevelt's Institute for Continued Learning will be held from noon to 1 p.m. in Room 706.

Following the lectures, an Interprofessional Health Fair organized by students from the College of Pharmacy and Harper College will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 pm. in the University's Licht Center. It is free and open to the public, regardless of age.

College of Pharmacy students will be available to provide information on prescriptions and the importance of adhering to directions for taking medications. Students from Harper's nursing, nutrition massage therapy and dental hygiene programs will also be on hand to provide screenings, counseling and demonstrations.

The free program is being presented in conjunction with the “Script Your Future” campaign, which includes a national challenge from the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy and the National Consumers League, for pharmacists to increase public awareness nationwide about prescriptions and the importance of adhering to directions for taking medications.

“We are taking the challenge seriously by inviting members of the community for the first time ever to ‘script their own future' particularly when it comes to use of medications and pre-screening for illness and disease,” said Cara Brock, director of Professional Labs for the College of Pharmacy.
