Boy Scout Troop 166 Host Village Trustee Debate

Fox River Grove, IL - February 16, 2013 – Boy Scout Troop 166 will be hosting a debate between candidates running for Village Trustee on April 1, 2013 at 7PM at the Fox River Grove Village Hall (305 Illinois Street). The debate is open to the public and a reception follows the event.

Currently there are six candidates running for three trustee positions. The debate will be completely ran by scouts of Troop 166 and the questions will be composed and selected by the scouts. This event will serve the community by allowing citizens to hear each candidate's view and allow for interaction during the reception. This also allows the scouts to become involved and participate in local issues, learn about event organization/structure, leadership, and is a reinforcement of good citizenship.

Village officials support the troop's planning and leading this endeavour. The scouts and scouters are very excited.

15-year-old Assistant Senior Patrol Leader Weston Raviolo is very excited about the debate and said, “it will be a fun and educational experience and will benefit our community overall”.

Scoutmaster Charlie Neal stated that “our scouts will experience good citizenship and leadership by undertaking such an awesome project. I am very proud of them!”

Boy Scout Troop 166 was founded in 1934 and chartered by the American Legion and still holds their charter, along with the Fox River Grove Lions Club. During this time, Troop 166 had the honor of bestowing the rank of Eagle to 57 scouts. The Troop also hosted the 2009 Village President Debate. Today, they have 27 scouts and 15 adult scouters led by Scoutmaster Charlie Neal and Senior Patrol Leader Karol Stankiewicz.
