Our guiding philosophy will be to never say no to our taxpayers when it comes to delivering township services.Key Issue 2 Taxes. I plan to investigate where township money is being spent and how efficiently we are allocating our resources. Once in position, I will commission a full audit of the Highway Department, check all vendor expenditures, provide revenue for ongoing township highway expenses, and schedule a top-down management and employee review.Key Issue 3 I intend to review road safety and road signage. Fatal accidents occur on all Illinois roads, and Addison Township is no different. How can we create bipartisan teams to improve life for our customers -- the tax payers?In the 21st Century, with municipalities gobbling up vacant land, why are townships needed? Should they be serving a new role? If so, what?Based on the current size of Addison Township, there is still a need for the township structure and the services it provides. It is true that in some areas, townships are shrinking and their roles may shrink as well. Eventually I can envision small service-oriented role for the township, perhaps outsourcing of some functions to improve service and reduce cost. In the end, voters will have the final decision in this matter.What should be the primary responsibility of township government?Provide solid customer assistance, provide road and highway safety in township-controlled areas, serve all constituents, and in particular, provide information, referrals and assistance to seniors and those in struggling with poverty.In these hard economic times, can you identify some township expenses/programs that could be trimmed or eliminated to reduce the tax burden?The best way to reduce township expenses is through a thorough review of all programs. Scheduling of staff can be handled in a creative manner as once way to minimize waste.What specific background or experience do you bring that makes you the best qualified candidate to serve as an elected official in the township?I have managed a grocery department with a budget of six million dollars per year and a staff of fifteen. I have been in charge of staffing, scheduling, training, loss control, responsible for gross margins, conforming to OSHA regulations, health department regulations, customers service training,and responsible for the bottom line.
