Friendship Village to Host 2013 Unity of Faith Gathering

On Tuesday, January 22, 2013, Friendship Village of Schaumburg will host the Schaumburg Hoffman Estates Clergy Association Unity of Faith Gathering at 2:00 p.m. in Assembly Hall. The theme for the interfaith event is How I Think About God. The gathering will feature sacred readings, music and prayers from Jewish, Muslim and Christian traditions with personal reflections offered by The Rev. Libby Conley, Christ Mennonite Church, Schaumburg; Mary Umans, Bahai Congregation, Hoffman Estates; and The Rev. Darneather Murph-Heath, Our Saviour's United Methodist Church, Schaumburg. Representatives from numerous local congregations and ministries will lead the sacred readings and prayers from their faith tradition. Special music will be provided by the Friendship Village Choir. Friendship Village Chaplain Shawn Kafader, event organizer, comments that “This is a time to gather people of faith to learn from each other's traditions and support each other in common concerns.” said Friendship Village chaplain Shawn Kafader, coordinator of the event. “Those who attended last year's gathering left experiencing faith from perspectives they would never have experienced in their own congregations.”
