Two drug arrests made in Waukegan

Two Waukegan men were arrested on drug possession charges following the execution of a search warrant at an apartment Thursday, authorities said Friday.

The Waukegan Gang Intelligence Unit searched a home on the 2200 block of Mohican Road and found 710 grams of cannabis, a loaded .25-caliber semiautomatic handgun, nearly $3,000 and several items of drug paraphernalia, authorities said.

They arrested Jonathan Garcia, 19, who was charged with unlawful possession of cannabis, unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to deliver and possession of a defaced firearm.

Police said Garcia is on court supervision for previous drug arrests. He is being held at the Lake County jail on $5,000 bail.

Authorities also charged Pedro Carrillo, 19, who they say lives in the house and allowed Garcia to sell drugs there while Carrillo’s mother is out of state for the winter. Carrillo was charged with unlawful possession of cannabis and released on a recognizance bond.
