Mt. Prospect OKs police contract

Mount Prospect and the Metropolitan Alliance of Police Chapter 84 have reached a tentative labor agreement that covers 69 police officers. The agreement, which was approved by the village board Tuesday, will be retroactive to May 1 and will expire on Dec. 31, 2016. Agreement was reached after six months of negotiation discussions, the village stated. Under the terms of the agreement, police officers will receive two 1 percent wage increases each year over a four-year period, beginning in 2013. In addition, the starting pay rate will increase from its current amount of $55,559 to $60,162 in 2016, while the top pay rate will increase from $83,958 currently to $90,914 in 2016.
