Teen wants an Easy-Bake Oven for boys

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Four-year-old Gavyn Boscio asked for an Easy-Bake Oven for Christmas. But when his big sister went to buy one, she could find it only in girly pink and purple.

So the Garfield, N.J., girl started an online petition asking Hasbro to make the toy ovens in gender-neutral colors and feature boys on the box.

Thirteen-year-old McKenna Pope has gotten more than 30,000 signatures so far. She says she wants her little brother to know it’s OK for boys to cook.

Celebrity chef Bobby Flay of the Food Network is weighing in on her side.

Hasbro has not returned calls for comment.
