Holiday lights flashback: 2009 winner
An amazing 30,000-light display synced with holiday music was the key to Nicholas Miele winning the Daily Herald’s holiday lights contest in 2009.
“I’ve always been a very creative person,” said the Batavia resident, who was 18 at the time. “And I just think Christmas lights look beautiful.”
Besides the controllers and lights, Miele’s display featured are 60 extension cords, piping, paint, electrical cable, computer cable, and six additional circuits and outlets. It has cost Miele about $3,000, plus the extra $75 to $100 in utility costs for the month of December.
