State’s attorney to review complaint against teacher
Police investigating whether an Antioch Elementary School teacher grabbed and bruised a student’s arm have referred the case to the Lake County state’s attorney’s office, authorities said Wednesday.
No charges have been filed in the case, police Chief Craig Somerville said. The investigation began Nov. 13, the day the girl claimed she was grabbed by the teacher.
Somerville expects a decision on whether charges will be brought early next week.
The teacher was placed on paid administrative leave after the complaint was filed, pending the outcome of the investigation, Antioch School District 34 Assistant Superintendent Mark Ostap said last week.
The girl has not returned to school since the complaint was filed, her father said.
