Where’s the help from Japan?
According to statistics set forth in the magazine World Ark, the three most charitable countries in the world are the United States, Ireland and Australia. An example of America’s generosity can easily be seen by the typhoon that hit Japan. America was there first, lending financial, military and medical aid to assist those affected by it.
Some of the debris is still washing up on our shores. America has had its own recent catastrophes such as the oil spill, Katrina, 9/11 and now the eastern seaboard. Any aid from Japan? I remind our friends to the east that if it were not for America rebuilding their economy after World War II, they would not be able to afford eating Kobe steaks now.
It becomes axiomatic to say that we are appreciated by our so-called “friends” in the world for one thing and one thing only: our money. I have a suggestion. When the next world catastrophe hits, the money, assets and benefits collected to assist instead be used to donate to the American Cancer Society and perhaps we will be able to cure that nasty disease that takes so many of our friends and relatives.
