Fire at Crystal Lake steel fabricator causes $500,000 in damages

No one was injured in a fire inside a steel fabrication plant on Route 31 in Crystal Lake Sunday night, authorities said.

The fire at TC Industries along Route 31 occurred around 8 p.m. and caused an estimated $500,000 in damage, Crystal Lake Fire Department officials said.

Firefighters were called to the steel fabrication plant when one of their processing systems and an oil tank caught fire, officials said.

A fire suppression system extinguished most of the fire, officials said.

The fire was under control in about 25 minutes and completely extinguished within 45 minutes, officials said.

Firefighters from Algonquin-Lake in the Hills, Woodstock, Fox River Grove, Nunda Rural, Carpentersville, Fox River Grove, Wauconda, Cary, McHenry Township, Lakewood, Wonder Lake, Huntley, Barrington and Marengo were called to the scene to assist.
