Pradel: BlackFinn 'under investigation'

Naperville Mayor and Liquor Commissioner George Pradel says he expects to deliver a resolution, by next week, to the city's ongoing issues with downtown bar BlackFinn American Saloon.

Pradel, speaking after Thursday's liquor commission meeting, repeated several times that the establishment is “under investigation” but declined to elaborate.

“You guys are pushing too much. It's under investigation right now so you need to let it go at that right now. And as soon as something comes out, we'll give it to you,” Pradel said. “All I'll tell you is it's under investigation and that's all I can say about it. We'll have the situation resolved and a course of action by next week.”

BlackFinn operations partner Lenny Skorcz attended Thursday's meeting but declined to comment.

Naperville Police Chief Bob Marshall, attorneys Jill Wilger and Mike DiSanto also met privately Monday afternoon with Skorcz to address several violent fights, including a stabbing last year, and an increasing number of police calls to the saloon at 16 E. Jefferson Ave. Those concerns also have caused several city council members to call for the establishment's liquor license to be pulled for varying lengths of time.

Late last month Marshall said much of the downtown violence is centered around BlackFinn.

“There definitely seems to be some patterns and trends that indicate some of the more serious offenses are occurring at that location and in that area,” Marshall said. “That fact has caught our attention.”
