Home-sale tax amounts to little

With regard to Ms. Nagel’s assertions (Fence Post, Oct. 16) that a 3.8 percent tax on all home sales will affect every sale, FactCheck.org and BankRate.com point out that only couples making a net income of $500,000 or more will be subject to the additional tax assessed on a capital gains basis. Average damage to such affluent taxpayers on such a sale, according to FactCheck, would be approximately $113 in additional taxes. Sob, sob!
