Pink Ribbon Wall is moving tribute for those with breast cancer

On Sunday, October 14 more than 750 breast cancer survivors and their supporters came out to AT&T's Hoffman Estates campus to Make Strides Against Breast Cancer with the American Cancer Society. The 5K walk, in its fifth year is just $10,000 short of a $158,500 goal to support area women with research and local services. Services that include free brand new wigs to cancer patients, rides to treatments, unlimited resources and access to care – to name a few.

A highlight of the walk was the Pink Ribbon Tribute Wall sponsored by Northwest Community Healthcare. Survivors, their friends and family members were encouraged to post messages on this wall in support or memoriam of their loved ones who were touched by breast cancer. This is the first year Northwest Community Healthcare has sponsored the Wall and the second year as an event sponsor. “We think the Pink Ribbon Tribute Wall makes a powerful statement and we appreciate bringing those messages back to our patients and visitors at Northwest Community Healthcare,” said Keith Ammons, director of Cancer Services. “There is a lot of emphasis on breast cancer in the month of October, but we want the public to remember that Northwest Community Healthcare and the American Cancer Society are always available to support cancer survivors from the time they are diagnosed, through their treatment, and for the rest of their lives.”

The Pink Ribbon Tribute Wall is currently on display for public viewing in the lobby of Northwest Community Healthcare, 800 W. Central, in Arlington Heights. Donations for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer will be accepted until December 31 at makingstrideswalk.org/northwestsuburbanil.
