Northwest Festival Orchestra presents “All Russian Spectacular!”
The Northwest Festival Orchestra will present “All Russian Spectacular!” on Sunday, November 18th at 3:00 pm at Harper College in the J Buliding Theater.
The concert is open to the public with an admission charge of $25 for Adults, $20 Seniors and $10 Students. Music Director, Dr. Verne Schwager and the Northwest Festival Orchestra will perform the following works: Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition and Prelude to Khovanshchina, and Rachmaninoff's Piano Conccerto No. 2 with Guest Soloist Alexander Zintchenko.
Esteemed Piano Soloist Alexander Zintchenko was born in Debaltsevo, Ukraine. Alexander Zintchenko began his formal piano studies at the age of 7 and by the age of 17 was a winner of the National piano competition in Kiev. While finishing his education, as well as during his post-graduate period, Zintchenko was featured soloist with some of the most widely known symphonic orchestras of the former Soviet Union, such as the Leningrad Symphonic, Kiev Symphonic, Lvov Symphonic, Khabarovsk Symphonic, Novosibirsk Symphonic, Krasnoyarsk Symphonic and the Donetsk Symphonic. Since September 2007 Professor Zintchenko became a faculty member of the De Paul University School of Music. He participated in Georgian and French music festivals at the De Paul University as a solo performer, and in piano duo with famous pianist and University Professor Eteri Andjaparidze. At the end of April in his recital A. Zintchenko presented Three Last Sonatas by Beethoven in Grand Concert Hall of the De Paul University.
An engaging communicator of exceptional warmth and energy, guest conductor Richard A. Haglund is the founder and Music Director of the Erato Chamber Orchestra in Chicago. He is often in demand as a guest conductor around the world where he has recently lead orchestras in Southern Tuscany (September), Milan Italy (October), and will be leading the Omsk Philharmonic Orchestra in Russia (November), and The National Symphony of Moldova (December).
The Northwest Festival Orchestra is comprised of Chicago's finest professional musicians who have a common affection for making and sharing music. The ensemble's programs are devoted to both classical and contemporary repertoire spanning the orchestral. The orchestra's style is characterized by a rich sound and virtuosic talent combined with an infectious enjoyment of the pleasure of making music.
