Elgin, Streamwood win regional games

Streamwood 5, Glenbard East 1: Mario Rodriguez scored twice while Daniel Nevearz, Nestor Ascencio and Christian Balbino each netted a goal to lead the Sabres to a win in the semifinals of the Class 3A Streamwood regional. The Sabres will play Elgin at 11 a.m. Saturday for the regional championship.

Elgin 2, Glenbard West 1: After a scoreless first half, Elgin fell behind 1-0 before getting a goal with 4:19 left to play from Emanuel Sanchez to tie the game and then the game-winner from Oscar Rodriguez with 2:05 left. The Maroons move on to play Streamwood at 11 a.m. Saturday at Millennium Field for the regional title.
