Ye Olde Town Inn Collecting Winter Clothing for Homeless Veterans
The Ye Olde Town Inn, located at 18 West Busse Avenue in downtown Mount Prospect will be collecting clean, gently used coats, hats, gloves and scarves for homeless military veterans until December 15.
A former enlisted United States Marine, Ye Olde Town Inn owner Tod Curtis is participating in Deerfield, Illinois based United Relief Foundation’s Housing, Hiring and Helping Our Heroes "Stand Up so Our Homeless Heroes can Stand Down" efforts to help veterans deal with the rigors of being homeless.
The public will be able to put clothing donations in a collection box located inside the Ye Olde Town Inn entrance area after the restaurant opens at 3 pm.
In addition, Curtis shall treat each customer to a free patriotic flag-on-top sundae with their meal when they bring in a clothing donation and then dines in his restaurant after 6 p.m. on Thursday, Friday or Saturday.

“Stand Down” comes from the military practice of removing exhausted combat units from the field of battle to a place of relative safety where they can rest and recover.
The United Relief Foundation, a 501 (c) (3) humanitarian aid organization, will be collecting clothing donations at regular intervals for delivery to shelters and non-profit support organizations serving homeless veterans.
Housing, Hiring and Helping Our Heroes is part of the United Relief Foundation’s Doing What Needs To Be Done campaign started in 2011 to make tangible, lasting differences in the lives of America’s military veterans in need.
