Report: Cubs seeking football adjustments to Wrigley
According to a published report, the Cubs are seeking approval to make some adjustments to host college football games Wrigley Field.
Crain’s Chicago Business reported Thursday that Cubs officials went before a Commission on Chicago Landmarks committee and received approval to move the brick wall behind home plate forward 3 feet to create 56 new seats. The panel also gave approval to reconfigure a nearly 12-foot-long section of the wall along the third-base line so it would become movable by forklift and create a larger buffer between the playing field and the brick wall.
In 2010, Northwestern and Illinois played a game at Wrigley Field, but safety rulings by the NCAA forced the offensive teams to use only the west end zone.
