Get a Bang for Your Buck – Make donation to Roselle Fireworks Campaign

A fundraising campaign is kicking off in Roselle to restore the tradition of fireworks on July 4. The overall goal of the “Get a Bang for Your Buck” campaign is to raise $25,000 for the July 4, 2013, fireworks display.

Donations are being accepted in person, by mail, and online. Donors can visit the Village of Roselle website at www.roselle.il.us/fireworks to make a credit card payment (convenience charges apply), to download a coupon to be included with check or cash donations, and to track campaign donation progress.

Donations will also be accepted by mail (Village of Roselle, 31 S. Prospect St., Roselle, IL 60172) in the payment drop box in the circle drive in front of Village Hall, or in person at the Finance counter at Village Hall.

Due to budget reductions, the July 4 fireworks display has not been in the Village's budget for the past three years. The tradition continued with generous sponsorships from community groups in 2010 and 2011. Without a sponsor for 2012, the display was canceled. The Bang for Your Buck campaign gives the community the chance to help bring July 4 fireworks back to Roselle.

Two fundraising goals have been established for the July 4, 2013, fireworks display: $15,000 by March 15, 2013, to secure a fireworks vendor, and $25,000 by June 26, 2013, for the final fireworks contract.

In the event that the $15,000 fundraising goal established for March 15, 2013, is not met, the fireworks display will be canceled and the funds will be used towards a 2014 Fireworks Donation Campaign. If subsequent fundraising goals are not met for a 2014 fireworks campaign, the display will be canceled and collected funds will be used to form a Special Events Commission charged with planning special events in Roselle, including but not limited to, National Night Out Against Crime.

In the event that the 2013 Fireworks Donation Campaign exceeds the stated $25,000 goal, 10 percent of the overage will be retained towards a 2014 Fireworks Donation Campaign. The remainder of the overage will be used to form a Special Events Commission charged with planning special events in Roselle, including but not limited to, National Night Out Against Crime.
