Young adult author to present her latest novel at Aspen Drive Library
Maggie Stiefvater, #1 New York Times best-selling author of the "Shiver" Trilogy, will be presenting "The Raven Boys", her first novel in a new four-book series, on Monday, October 1 at 5:00 p.m. at the Aspen Drive Library, 701 Aspen Drive, Vernon Hills. This event is free and open to the public but registration is required. Call (847) 362-2330 or visit webres.cooklib.org to register. Books for signing will be available to purchase courtesy of Lake Forest Bookstore.
Filled with mystery, romance, and the supernatural, "The Raven Boys" introduces readers to Richard “Dick” Campbell Gansey, III and Blue Sargent. Gansey has it all – family money, good looks, devoted friends – but he's looking for more than that. Blue Sargent, the daughter of the town psychic in Henrietta, Virginia, has a policy to stay away from the rich boys at the nearby prep school. The boys there – known as Raven Boys – can only mean trouble. In contrast to the melancholy werewolves of Stiefvater's popular "Shiver" Trilogy, the Raven Boys are not paranormal critters but the entitled students of elite, raven-crested Aglionby Academy. This first in a planned four-novel series, to which New Line Cinema has acquired the film rights, draws readers into a world where time enfolds hauntingly, and magic informs reality.
Maggie Stiefvater is a writer, artist, and musician and the New York Times bestselling author of "Shiver", hailed by Publisher's Weekly in a starred review as, “a lyrical tale,” and by BookPage as, “beautifully written, even poetic at times, and a perfect indulgence for readers of all ages.” There are more than 1.7 million copies of the trilogy in print. Her last book "The Scorpio Races" was named a Michel L. Printz Honor Book by the American Library Association and a New York Times Notable Children's Book. Stiefvater lives an eccentric life in the “middle-of-nowhere,” Virginia with her charmingly straight-laced husband, two kids, two neurotic dogs, and a 1973 Camaro named Loki.
Join Stiefvater as she talks about her tumultuous past and transition from history major, calligraphy instructor, wedding musician, technical editor and equestrian artist to writer. Free pizza and pop will be served.
