Fleece blankets help Boy Scout reach Eagle rank
Jeffery Weaver of Roselle coordinated a blanket making project in an effort to achieve Eagle Scout status with his Boy Scout Troop.
Weaver fundraised for the fleece fabric and then coordinated a team of volunteers to assist in assembling the blankets. In all, 50 blankets were created. On Thursday, Aug. 9, the blankets were presented in a small ceremony to the Pediatric Unit staff at St. Alexius Medical Center.
The staff then presented Jeffery with a certificate of appreciation and expressed gratitude on behalf of all of the children and their family members that will be the recipients of the blankets.
When Jeffery receives the honor of Eagle Scout it will make him the second young man in his family to achieve such status.
Four years ago, Jeffrey’s older brother, Stephen, also partnered with Alexian Brothers Health System on his Eagle Scout project, which focused on heart disease prevention.
Jeffrey’s Eagle Scout badge will be presented to him later this fall in a special ceremony.
