Salgado leads Round Lake barrage
Mauricio Salgado’s 4 goals in an 11-minute span highlighted a second-half explosion, as Round Lake’s boys soccer team blitzed Zion-Benton 8-1 in a North Suburban Conference crossover Tuesday.
Round Lake led only 1-0 at halftime on a goal by Eddie Ramirez assisted by Freddie Ramirez.
Salgado then scored the next four goals, with Edgar Rodriguez assisting on the first two. When Miguel Salgado finished a pass from Rodriguez, the Panthers led 6-0. Rodriguez’s fourth assist of the game resulted in Lorenzo Cortez’s goal. Rodriguez then finished the scoring for Round Lake, as Fermin Martinez picked up the assist.
Eddie Ramirez had an assist, as well, while Jose Martinez made 2 saves in goal for the Panthers.
Stevenson 1, Libertyville 1: Libertyville’s Austin Bitta scored the equalizer with about 11 minutes left in the North Suburban Lake Division match, with Alex Prillaman earning the assist.
Alec Schory made 7 saves in net for Libertyville (5-2-1.
Stevenson (8-2-1, 2-0-1) led 1-0 at halftime thanks to a goal by Toshiki Niimi, who was assisted by Jared Moelart. Patriots keeper Quentin Low had 6 saves.
Warren 2, Mundelein 0: Nick Haas and Auner Solis scored for the visiting Blue Devils in North Suburban Lake action.
Sean Kirwan assisted on Solis’ insurance goal. Keeper RJ Hill made 1 save in earning the shutout for Warren (10-3).
Grayslake Central 3, Crystal Lake Central 2: Ryan Spradlin scored in overtime to lift the host Rams in their Fox Valley Fox Division opener.
John Moroney and Ben Sizclore scored in regulation for Grayslake Central (5-7, 1-0). Rams keeper Steven Anderson made 4 saves.
Johnsburg 4, Grayslake North 1: The Knights got their lone goal from Jake Hensley, whose first-half strike was assisted by fellow senior Sintayehu Meyer.
The Skyhawks scored a pair of goals in each half of the Fox Valley Fox Division match.
