Savio family ‘finally got justice’
The brother of Drew Peterson’s third wife says his conviction is “a very long time in coming.”
Nick Savio spoke to reporters Thursday afternoon outside the Will County courthouse in Joliet after jurors convicted Peterson in Kathleen Savio’s 2004 death. Nick Savio said at least he knows his sister will get justice and although they can’t have her back “we hope she can rest in peace.” Nick Savio also said he hopes Kathleen Savio’s sons “never forget their mom.”
Savio’s sister, Susan Doman, stepped out of the courtroom after the verdict, wiping tears from her eyes. Doman also said her family “finally got justice.”
Savio’s nephew, 33-year-old Michael Lisak of Carpentersville, gasped and cried in court. Afterward he said he didn’t look at Peterson and instead “just held my family.”
