Gabriela Wyatt, of Aurora, a delegate to the Republican National Convention under way in Tampa, talks about her committee role -- and about sunning on the beach as Tropical Storm Isaac loomed.
Name: Gabriela Wyatt
Hometown: Aurora
Role: Romney delegate, honorary Illinois GOP co-chairman
Q. You've been here in Tampa a week. Why?
A. I had a meeting for the convention's credentials committee. We review some of the information given to us ... about the delegates. We make sure the proper process was used in electing the delegates. Our findings are voted on by all the delegates.
Q. Did your plans change because of the tropical storm?
A. From 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. (last week) I was just sitting there in the convention center in Tampa, and I didn't pay too much attention.
Q. What was it like here as everyone back home worried about the weather?
A. It was beautiful! I was walking on the beach. I was sitting in the sun. Back home, they kept asking me: ‘Are you OK?' I (said), ‘I'm fine!'
