Mt. Prospect Downtown Plan kick-off meeting Sept. 13

The Village of Mount Prospect and The Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) are starting a Downtown Implementation planning process to complete an assessment of Downtown to determine how it can continue to transform itself and improve in the years to come.

This project will build off an initial downtown plan completed by the Village in 1998. Much of the 1998 plan has been successfully implemented to date. The proposed project will reevaluate the area and will result in a detailed implementation strategy used to guide the future success of downtown Mount Prospect.

The Village received a grant from the RTA to conduct the plan and has selected the Lakota Group as the primary consultant for the project, and they want to get to know the concerns, issues, and successes of downtown business owners, residents, and visitors.

“We are really excited to be working with the RTA and the Lakota Group on this project,” said Bill Cooney, Director of Community Development. “Lakota has worked on a number of very interesting projects with great results and we are excited to see where they lead us in terms of our strategy moving forward for downtown Mount Prospect.”

Residents and businesses are invited to attend an open house discussion on Thursday, September 13th, 2012 - 7:00 P.M. at the Chase Bank Building, 111 E. Busse Ave, 4th Floor Conference Room.

JOIN THE CONVERSATION. Join your neighbors and friends and participate in a community conversation about what is great and possible in Downtown Mount Prospect and have a chance at door prizes and giveaways!

We will discuss questions like:

• What do you love about downtown Mount Prospect?

• What do you think the downtown should look like in five years?

• What is that one “thing” Downtown is missing?

• What could that empty storefront be?

Public input is a vital part of this process. This is the first Open House meeting and will kick off the planning process. Keep up to date on future events at www.thelakotagroup.com/mountprospect.
