Tom & Eddie’s supports Special Olympics

On the first anniversary of its Vernon Hills location, Tom & Eddie’s will host a fun-filled fundraiser for Special Olympics Illinois titled “Burgers & Badges.” Uniformed officers from the Vernon Hills Police Department will serve customers from 4-8 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 1, at Tom & Eddie’s Vernon Hills, 1260 S. Milwaukee Ave.
“We invite everyone to come on over for a fresh Angus burger with some hand-cut fries to celebrate our first year in Vernon Hills,” Ed Rensi, co-founder of Tom & Eddie’s, said. “In addition, we will donate 10 percent of net sales to Special Olympics Illinois.”
For the anniversary, special promotions are planned for customers. Anyone whose birthday is Sept. 1 will receive a free birthday entree, redeemable at all locations. Double loyalty points will be awarded on Tom & Eddie’s Loyalty Cards, also at all locations.
At the Vernon Hills location only, a magician will entertain customers from 5:30-7 p.m., and several raffles will award lucky winners with great prizes.
“We are committed to giving our guests the best,” said Tom Dentice, co-founder of Tom & Eddie’s, “and that means affordable meals, the freshest ingredients and warm hospitality that, all together, create a relaxed and happy dining experience.”
In addition, officers of the Vernon Hills Police Department will sell $10 raffle tickets for a 2013 Harley-Davidson. Six winners will be drawn, and later in the fall, at the Special Olympics headquarters in Bloomington, each winner will be given a key, but only one key will start the Harley. The other five winners will receive 50-inch big screen TVs worth $1,000 each.
Last year, Harley winner John Reading bought his ticket at Tom & Eddie’s Geneva. Tom Dentice and Ed Rensi, co-founders of Tom & Eddie’s, are urging the residents of Vernon Hills to participate in the Harley raffle.
“Our restaurant seems to be lucky,” Rensi said. “It’s all fun, and it’s all for a great cause. We are hoping to raise $10,000 this year, so come on out for a burger for our birthday and check out the Harley.”
