Cupcake business opens in Mount Prospect

Nutphree’s Cupcakes, a new peanut and tree nut-free cupcake bakery, will be hosting a grand opening event from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, at the bakery storefront located at 259 E. Rand Road in Mount Prospect. The event will include raffles, cupcake samples, giveaways and activities for kids. Owners Brian and Sonia Walker said their family decided to start the bakery out of their own necessity. “When our son was first diagnosed with a peanut and tree nut allergy, we couldn’t believe how difficult it was to find baked goods that were safe for him to eat,” Brian Walker said.
