Burgers and Badges fundraiser on Sept. 1

Tom & Eddie’s restaurant, 1260 S. Milwaukee Ave., Vernon Hills will celebrate its first year with the Burger and Badges fundraiser on Saturday, Sept. 1. Uniformed officers from the Vernon Hills police department will serve customers from 4 to 8 p.m., and 10 percent of net sales will be donated to the Special Olympics Illinois. A magician will entertain customers from 5:30 to 7 p.m. and several raffles will be held. Police also will sell $10 raffle tickets for a 2013 Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Six winners will be given a key but only one will start the bike during a ceremony later in the fall at Special Olympics headquarters in Bloomington.
