Streamwood girl to compete in pageant

Arielle Christopher, 13, of Streamwood, was chosen as a state finalist in the 2012 National American Miss Illinois Pageant to be held at Pheasant Run Resort, in St. Charles, from Sept.. 1-3.

The National American Miss pageant has five age divisions for girls ages 4-18. Christopher will be competing in the Pre-Teen age division, along with other young ladies from across the state of Illinois.

Christopher’s interests include dancing, swimming, and artwork. Christopher was recognized as the first Miss Illinois State Princess 2007, the first Long Grove Strawberry Festival Little Miss Queen 2008, was awarded Illinois House Resolution No. 1507 for the Good Deeds Toy Drive 2008, earned the Silver President’s Volunteer Service Award 2009, and was the first Miss Cook County Outstanding Pre-Teen 2011-2012.

Each pageant contestant is required to participate in four overall competitions to receive a total score for the Pre-Teen age division. A panel of judges will score each contestant in formal wear, interview, personal introduction and community involvement.

The winner of the Pre-Teen Pageant will receive a $1,000 cash award, official state crown, banner, trophy, bouquet of roses, an authentic modeling scholarship, entry fees paid for the National Pageant, air transportation to compete in the National Pageant in California.

National American Miss, a division of Spirit Productions Inc., is based in Houston, Texas. Each year, the pageant nationally awards $1.5 million dollars in cash, scholarships and prizes to recognize and assist in the development of young women nationwide.
