Two Lemont men facing burglary charges

Two Lemont men are facing felony burglary charges after a string of vehicle break-ins and a residential burglary near Downers Grove, authorities said.

Christopher G. Forzley, 17, of the 19W600 block of Hillcrest Drive, and Jacob G. Carpenter, 18, of the 800 block of Main Street, each has been charged with one count of residential burglary and one count of burglary.

The DuPage County sheriff’s office said in a statement that deputies were responding about 5 a.m. Tuesday to a residential burglary in an unincorporated neighborhood near Downers Grove when they noticed Forzley and Carpenter in the area. When deputies approached the men, they both ran away. After searching the area, deputies found both men and took them into custody.

Sheriff’s detectives are investigating whether the suspects are responsible for multiple car burglaries in the area, officials said.

Woodridge police said six vehicles were burglarized during the overnight hours between Monday and Tuesday. Three other vehicles were entered during that time, they said.

Forzley and Carpenter were being held Wednesday in the county jail. Forzley has a bond of $25,000, and Carpenter’s bond has been set at $10,000.
