Teens accused in Gurnee burglary
Gurnee Police Chief Kevin Woodside again is crediting information from alert residents in helping investigators catch accused burglars over the weekend.
Police said they were summoned at 5:28 a.m. Sunday by a resident in the 1100 block of Laurel Lane who noticed two teenagers inside an unlocked vehicle on a neighbor’s driveway. The suspects fled, police said, but not before the resident provided detailed information.
Police said witness statements and physical evidence led to the arrests of Nicholas Bonilla, 18, and Nicholas Alvery, 17, both of Lindenhurst. The teens were charged with two counts of felony burglary.
“This is another example of how the public partnering with the police solves crime,” Woodside said. In April, Woodside credited calls from observant residents with leading to the arrest of a 19-year-old Gurnee man on burglary charges.
