Story of interest to Elgin readers, too
On July 20, I read in the Arlington Heights edition of the Daily Herald that the executive board members as well as several police and fire chiefs of Northwest Central Dispatch Center were presented with the dispatcher employees’ vote of “No Confidence” in the day-to-day management team.
NWC is a 911 dispatch center that dispatches police and fire emergency calls for numerous municipalities — 12 of them, from Mount Prospect to Inverness, Palatine to Streamwood. There are plans afoot by NWC to court several more municipalities that are to the east of Mount Prospect.
NWC also answers numerous cellphone areas for 911 calls aside from all the land line telephones in the above municipalities.
When I read my Elgin edition of the Daily Herald on July 20, I saw no mention of this “no confidence” vote in the paper anywhere. I’m disappointed in the Daily Herald and the lack of concern shown for the residents of Elgin, Streamwood, Hoffman Estates and surrounding towns. Do you believe that because NWC covers towns east of Elgin that we would not be affected by the policies of NWC?
Are you aware that NWC answers 911 emergency calls that come from cellphones on the I-90/Jane Addams Tollway, or the I-290/Route 53, or that an Elgin resident hurt at the new Hoffman Estates/Elgin dog park would be calling the NWC dispatch center for medical assistance?
Doesn’t Hoffman Estates abut Elgin on the east side?
